BEOGRAM 5000

Belt-Driven Turntable
Year: 1984-1985
Designer : Jacob Jensen

The Beogram 5000 is an evolution of the Beogram 1800, designed to integrate with the Beosystem 5000. Its design was revised to match the style of the other system components. As with the 1800, playback could be started or stopped without opening the dust cover by pressing the right end of the aluminum strip, and the cover could be opened by pressing the left end—an aesthetic detail consistent with the rest of the range, but not very practical.

The dust cover was improved, with integrated lighting similar to that of the Beocenter 7700.

The Beogram 5000 also offered new features, including a "repeat" button allowing a record to be played up to seven times, with a flashing indicator light during the last playback.

Finally, it was equipped with the Datalink system, ensuring two-way communication with other Beosystem devices.

It was later replaced by the Beogram 5005, which featured a tangential tonearm.
